Two years later, Bergen Group AAK began the development of services at height to meet operational challenges and demand from the energy utilities and offshore oil and gas industry. As a result, in 1991, together with Statoil ASA, Bergen Group AAK introduced Rope Access Techniques as an approved work method on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
In 2009, drawing upon experience gained from the energy utilities and Oil and Gas markets, Bergen Group AAK entered into Offshore Wind Industry projects, initially the Alpha Ventus Project, the first offshore test and demonstration wind farm in Europe. In 2012 Bergen Group AAK established an onshore maintenance division in Verdal, Norway and hired wind Technicians with extended experience from Scanwind and GE Wind Energy in Norway.
AAK Energy Services AS is today providing engineering, fabrication, installation and maintenance/modification services to the offshore industry, has developed a number of concepts in order to ensure fast and easy access to offshore installations, fixed and floating. 27 years of experience with the oil and gas industry is also translated into cost effective offshore wind services.
Today, Bergen Group AAK AS has more than 25 years’ experience from oil and energy markets in Norway and Britain, specializing in demanding access to vulnerable areas in challenging environments. We deliver unparalleled in-service inspection, installation, modification, maintenance and decommissioning services along with safety consulting and training. Bergen Group AAK AS has in total 90 experienced and highly qualified specialists, forming multidisciplinary teams and field proven solutions, with offices in Bergen, Stavanger, Kristiansund, Åndalsnes and Verdal.
